Order Proboscidea

This order contains 2 species of elephants - African and Asian Elephants. Some split the African Elephant into 2 or more species.

In Singapore, the Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus) has become extirpated, but on very rare occasions, visitors have been found on Pulau Ubin¹ and Tekong². They came from the forests of Johor, Malaysia.
